Operations Manager

We are seeking an energetic Operations and Guest Activities Manager to begin as soon as possible. This is a permanent position and the main responsibilities include:

  • Managing the cleanliness and general maintenance of the exterior areas of the lodge, furniture, swimming pool, tennis court, and a wide range of vehicles and vessels
  • Managing all guest activities and outdoor pursuits including kayaking, 4WD vehicles, SUPs, fishing and more
  • Training new and current staff to meet our high standards of luxury guest service
  • Dealing with suppliers for purchasing and outside contracting
  • Management of health and safety procedures for the department
  • Dealing with varied guest requests and arrivals and departures

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience managing a team and organising shifts
  • Proven skills in maintenance and in all aspects of work on deck on yachts of various sizes
  • The indefinite right to live and work in New Zealand and be looking to commit long term to the role

As we are taking delivery of a power boat later this year we are ideally seeking candidates who have a current ticket allowing them to drive a commercial passenger vessel in NZ 15m in length. If you have a ticket which can be converted to an equivalent NZ ticket this would also be beneficial.

Anyone who has experience in super-yachting or merchant navy in a senior position would be the ideal candidate for this role.

Lawn Mower Operative

An opportunity is available for a Lawn Mower Operative to join our team of professional horticultural staff, all working to ensure Helena Bay Lodge continues to meet world class resort standards.

Working closely with our Head Gardener the successful applicant will work to implement a maintenance plan for the large and varied expanses of lawn across the resort. The role would be predominantly focused on lawn restoration and upkeep. 

Essential qualities:

  • Experience in the horticultural industry
  • An understanding of turf maintenance
  • A basic knowledge of greenkeeping and mowing equipment, as well as turf agri-chemicals
  • A keen eye for presentation and detail
  • Have own reliable transport due to location

Full time Landscape and Farmhand opportunities

You will be joining an experienced team of qualified and enthusiastic horticulturalists and farmers all working to help Helena Bay Lodge’s grounds meet their world class potential.

Essential qualities to be successful in this role:

  • Have own reliable transport due to location
  • Experience in the horticultural industry
  • A keen eye for presentation and detail

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency, NZ working rights, or a valid NZ work visa

Preferred but not essential qualities include:

  • A working knowledge of machinery/workshop tools
  • An understanding of invasive weed control and predator control
  • Competence with modern irrigation systems.
  • Grow safe certificate and certified handler
  • Wheels, Tracks and Rollers certificate along with Class 2 HT license.
  • Experience maintaining formal gardens.
  • Experience or interest in stock and animal husbandry

A competitive salary is on offer; with the working week set at Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. This role will also include occasional rostered weekend work. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Gardener and colleagues to continue forward momentum and improvement of the grounds at this resort; ensuring we meet the very highest standard expected. The successful candidate will be entitled to 4 weeks’ holiday per annum and statutory public holidays.

Service Team Member

We are currently seeking an experienced hospitality candidate to join the service team in a full time capacity for the remainder of the 2018/2019 season. Duties include greeting and interacting with guests and all aspects of food and beverage service around the lodge and property. The roster includes morning, afternoon and evening shifts over 7 days. There is the possibility for candidates who complete a successful first contract to return for a second season.

Suitable candidates must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand, be in possession of a full NZ drivers licence and reliable transport, and be able to commit to working through to 31st May 2019.
